Cassidy Motahari is a videographer, editor and emerging documentary filmmaker. A first-generation American, Cassidy’s current work focuses on the intersection of human rights, environmental justice issues, and the relationship between cultural identity and place. She’s based in Missoula, Montana, where she is pursuing a graduate degree in Environmental Science and Natural Resource Journalism at the University of Montana.
In 2024, Cassidy had the honor of being selected from a pool of 700+ applicants for a rigorous graduate internship with the National Geographic Society’s Impact Story Lab – an experience that further solidified her passion for using video to inspire empathy, instill wonder, communicate science and create positive change. Cassidy’s short documentaries have been shown on Montana PBS, Vermont PBS, Maine Outdoor Film Festival and Vermont International Film Festival, among other outlets. She is a recipient of the Outdoor Writers Association of America Bodie McDowell Scholarship, awarded to outstanding students with a demonstrated record of accomplishment and commitment to storytelling. She holds a Bachelor of Science in wildlife & fisheries biology from the University of Vermont.
